Happy Corn Day!

Corn is the early theme for 2008! Spent New Year's Eve at the Hunt's tamale-making party...work to eat! The crowd gathered there made something like 800 meat-filled morsels of corn-wrapped goodness. As the clock approached midnight, a group of Epic folks from the party walked down (and walked off some of the tamales) to First Night Fullerton, the annual carnival-like celebration in downtown near our church. Besides the company, the festivities were pretty ho-hum. On New Year's day, went to my wife cousin's house where we played the hillbilly inspired "cornhole" - a game reminiscent of horse shoes except you throw a corn-filled bag into a hole cut out of a ramp. I understand the game is big in the Midwest where they actually grow corn. Scoring goes 2 points for holing it, 1 point for sticking the bag on the ramp. Though it looks easy, it's actually tougher than it looks, really.
